oh, the possibilities!

After years selling denim from all the big players - I'm quite frankly, bored with jeans.

By the end of my tenure as a denim specialist at a boutique the thought of jeans made me tired. Even I couldn't keep up with all the trends, much less care, if a new-new-new hot brand came out.

Perhaps this is why I've rediscovered my love for shoes, bags, and jewelry. Bags can be vibrant, jewelry can be sparkly without being trashy (remember embellished jeans?), and shoes can be just plain magical.

Jeans - no matter what Brand X may tell you on a hangtag - are just not as fun. They are foundation pieces. Without them you'd be wearing a skirt, pants, or leggings. Boooo-rinng. Now where's the fun in that?

Futuristic/Athletic Wedges at Proenza Schouler

I was digging around Trendzine: Fashion Information (they predict what the trends of the future will be). I especially liked their trend analysis from Paris Fashion Week for Spring 2010:

ATHLETIC - a luxury meld of motocross, scuba and lounge...
ELEMENTS - patterns dip into watery, airy or earthy themes...
BONDAGE - from tough black leather to khaki fatigues...
CLERICAL - sculptural tailoring, rigid stripes and minimal colour...
FREEFORM - the artistry of effective drape and ingenious pleating...
REVEALED - revealing lingerie and ‘40s Film Noir frou frou...
SKINTONE - sheer skin-revealing-mesh/lace and a fleshy palette...
ROUGHS - surfaces are rippled, ruched, destroyed or textured...

the procession continues...

Before I left for The Procession last Friday, I wasn't entirely sure where I was headed. All I had was an address. As it turns out, the Lone Fir Cemetery is a captivatingly gorgeous place for a show at dusk.

One of my friends promised to send over photos from the evening, but in the meantime, I'm dying to share. Here are a few shots Pete Springer snapped:

Pinkham Millinery organized the show and provided the swoon-worthy hats while a long list of local designers including Emily Ryan, Kate Towers and Frocky Jack Morgan supplied the Victorian-era attire. The gorgeous styling was by the talented Allison Jones.

bound for greatness

Check out these accessory heavy looks from Ann Demeulemeester's Spring 2010 Paris Fashion Week show. A few of the chains are reminiscent of Bliss Lau, whose work I adore.

And the clothes? I would definitely wear the first look (plus a shirt underneath, minus the headwrap) and the last look (swap the leather leggings for denim, minus the headwrap).

Now that's what I call interesting fashion.

rick owens

Rick Owens never disappoints - the number of wisps, points, folds, pleats, and zips he manages to fit in a collection astounds me. Spring 2010 was no exception.

And while these head-to-toe looks are in no way practical I do think a Rick Owens bracelet, or pair of shoes, would be a nice focal point in an quieter ensemble.

dolce & gabbana spring 2010

Maybe it's my Montana roots, but isn't the Spring RTW Collection from Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, well, fun? I love the accessories, especially the fringe-laden boots.
