(Above): The scene at the door of the Adam Arnold Fall 2010 fashion show (all white floors = no shoes allowed). It felt as if I was stalking several people at once as I studied what shoes everyone came in (presumably, their "best", which is a somewhat frightening indication of a lack of _________)....

(Above): Inside the new All Saints store in Boston on Newbury Street - (amazing shoes but all sold out of my size, sad face) This U.K. chain is new to the U.S., I hadn't heard of it. It's sort of like a Rick-Owens-meets-Anthropologie place for rich kids (not that I didn't want everything!)


(Above:) Look a little closer at the walls - - that's right, they are lined in replicas of vintage shoe horns (nice touch) - - oh, if these horns could "toot"... (sorry, couldn't help it) I've noticed a lot of wood cutout heels this Fall, have you?


(Above): Inside the Tannery on Boylston Street in Boston (again, sold out of everything in my size except for shoes in the $500+ range, and even then it was slim pickins') My husband did find a nice Fjallraven jacket, however.

It seems like just weeks ago I was catching up on what was going to be big for Summer.

Now, the magazines are highlighting what to wear for Fall. While I still haven't seen The September Issue I definitely understand what it signifies: it's time to start shopping for boots!

For eight-hundred-something-dollars some people would grab a flight to Hawaii. Others might spend three days in Mexico. And a few people might put the money in savings.

I think I might have found heaven on earth.

Hundreds of shoes (from a collection numbering over 10,000) are on exhibit at the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronta, Ontario.

From the website:

"The Museum celebrates the style and function of footwear in four impressive galleries. Footwear on display ranges from Chinese bound foot shoes and ancient Egyptian sandals to chestnut-crushing clogs and glamourous platforms. Over 4,500 years of history and a collection of 20th-century celebrity shoes are reflected in the semi-permanent exhibition, All About Shoes. Three other galleries feature changing exhibitions, so there's always something new to see."

These wrap heels by Kris Van Assche are preeeeeetty nice. If you break them down on a cost-per-wear basis, and you wore them 50 times, it would cost you a mere $14.60 per wear.

So, I guess what I'm asking is, do you think they're worth $730?

I love my new Vialis boots from Barcelona, Spain. They are gorgeous, they go with everything, and . . . . (drumroll, please) . . . . they are comfortable! I found them at Halo Shoes.

A collabo-stiletto between John Paul Gaultier and Brazil's Melissa will hit shelves in stores this June. I'm waiting to hear back on exactly which shelves in selected cities they will hit (more later on this).

Interesting fact: these babies are 100 percent recyclable. Not that you'd ever get rid of them... they look pretty comfortable, actually.

White trainers are big for Spring 2010. I'm all for trends, especially when they're comfortable. Just as long as the look doesn't get too sloppy. Right now, I'm in love with the Nike Blazer Mid 09's available at need supply.

Piles of menswear-inspired oxfords and lace-up shoes are flooding stores this Fall. There are plenty of heel heights to choose from, and the fabric options are endless. The question then becomes, "What do I wear these shoes with?".

Personally, I love a pair of heeled-oxfords with a white shirt, pencil skirt, and layers of pearl and chain necklaces. For a casually elegant vibe, I'd pair the spectator flats with a cardigan and rolled-up boyfriend jeans.

Once again, I was trolling the 'net for shoes. Often, my searching yields nothing. But every once in a while, I strike gold. The other day produced these beauties. Every pair is perfect in its own way.

Hats off to the Saks footwear buyer for the impeccable selection, and the designers themselves for creating such beautiful work. This is why I love shoes so damn much.

shoe lust

Every year, at about this time, I inevitably get a huge case of shoe lust. My size (11) sells out fast everywhere, so I am trained to look for boots and close-toed anything just as summer becomes unbearably hot.

I subscribe to the daily posts from http://www.refinery29.com/, and today these new beauties arrived in my InBox. Every pair is part of the new Fall collection from Elizabeth & James. I've loved the Olsen twins' line (yes, they design it) every season, and now I'm sold on the shoes. My faves are 1, 2, & 6 (L-R) worn with a loose white shirt and skinny jeans.
