g r a y l i n g at Mink in Portland, Oregon

Mink is one of few places on Portland's East Side where a girl can find Velvet dresses and Joe's jeans alongside jewelry from local designers.

I love the store's interior. Crystal chandeliers cast a glittery glow on racks full of frocks and blouses. Inviting displays of jewelry, candles and perfumes begged to be tried on and tested.

On a personal note, Mink picked up pieces from the g r a y l i n g GlamRock collection this December. I'm thrilled to be a part of such a beautiful store, and I look forward to this new collaboration.

Mink is tucked away on SE Hawthorne Ave. between American Apparel and Imelda's. Please give them a visit if you're in the area.

inspired by: madeleine vionnet

The work of Madeleine Vionnet is a huge inspiration for me at the present moment. I am transported to another time when I view these photographs, which date between 1914 and 1931:

Styles included a myriad of intricate details, such as these thumbprint tags.

Ms. Vionnet's avant-garde design aesthetic remains a huge influence for couturiers such as John Galliano and Issey Miyake. And a huge influence for me, as well, as I begin work on a Spring 2010 bridal jewelry line.

I recently stumbled across this great bracelet from Giles and Brother-slash-Philip Crangi at shopbop. It’s a great example of transforming everyday objects, in this case hardware nuts, into something artistic.
