blogging: a love/hate relationship

Writing a blog is funny.

Sometimes I'm really hot on it, sometimes I'm so cold I virtually forget I have a blog. Especially since conversations on my Facebook and Twitter pages offer instant interactions.

It makes me wonder, is anyone else writing fewer blog posts? It seems like the aforementioned forms of social media began filling the niche (that blogging once had a stronghold of) in 2008.

Anyway, my days of endless surfing, researching, and blogging are fewer now as I am pulled deeper into my business. This is a positive thing; grayling helps me bring home almost half the bacon (and fulfills lots of my creative needs, too).

Still, every time I find something worth sharing I do make a note of it for future posts. I have a folder on my laptop that's filled with snapshots of shoes, jewelry, and accessories that caught my eye at one point or another.

Eventually, I'll sift through it and share it.

Until then, thanks for reading the little bit I do manage to get up here.

And if you care for more, do check out grayling jewelry on Facebook and Twitter or on the good old grayling jewelry website.

nice pair: kris van assche heels

These wrap heels by Kris Van Assche are preeeeeetty nice. If you break them down on a cost-per-wear basis, and you wore them 50 times, it would cost you a mere $14.60 per wear.

So, I guess what I'm asking is, do you think they're worth $730?

it's been a month

As it turns out, I knew a few people, who knew a few people, and then, well, things just took off! The g r a y l i n g blog is now a month old.

I've had tons of fun compiling photos and links; the phrase "there's so much out there" doesn't even begin to describe it all! Fear not - the best is yet to come. I have several exciting stories and interviews planned featuring local and national designers, shop owners, and industry insiders.

In the meantime, I'll be updating my website with a shopping cart and working on a new cast metal line.

Thanks for reading - your support means everything!

In closing, I thought I'd share some pictures from my trip to Montana this Summer.

Montana: home to dinosaurs, cowboys, and half my family.

A hard-rock hamburger and fries at the Earth & Sky Gem Show, held in Billings, Montana. The show brought more than 3000 rock collectors to town. I also snapped pictures of key lime pie, baked potatoes, steak, and sausages - all made of solid rock.

A handsome buck near the Stillwater River. There were nine in all. As cute as they were, I kept thinking how much I wanted a set of their horns for the wall in my office. Don't worry. I love animals and I would never do such a thing...
